July 2005 compared to June 2005: Industrial producer prices up by 0.5% in both euro-zone and EU25
The euro-zone1 industrial producer price index2 rose by 0.5% in July 2005 compared with the previous month. In July 2005, EU25 prices also grew by 0.5%. In June3 prices also increased by 0.5% in both the euro-zone and the EU25. In July 2005 compared to July 2004, industrial producer prices grew by 4.0% in the euro-zone and by 5.0% in the EU25.

Both euro-zone1 and EU25 GDP grew by 0.3% in the second quarter of 2005, compared to the previous quarter, according to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. In the first quarter of 2005, growth rates were +0.4% in both zones.

Commission takes decision on reorganisation of Eurostat
In line with the undertaking given by Mr Prodi on 25 September before the European Parliament, the Commission today adopted a new organisation chart for Eurostat. The reorganisation derives from the strategy proposed for Eurostat by Commissioner Solbes on 23 July and reflects the conclusions and recommendations set out in the reports by the Internal Audit Service and the Task Force on Eurostat.
